The Short Version

Who Runs This Site

This site is maintained by Syed Hassan Gillani, a digital content researcher and SEO professional based in Pakistan. I have spent years building information resources on Pakistani utility topics — electricity billing, water charges, and government service portals — with a specific focus on making complex bureaucratic information accessible to ordinary people.

I grew up in a household where the bijli bill was a monthly event — sometimes a shock, sometimes a relief, almost always confusing. When I started researching South Punjab's electricity billing system in detail, I found that most of the information online was either outdated, factually wrong (wrong SMS numbers, incorrect subsidy rules), copied from older sites without verification, or written in English so formal it was useless to the average consumer in Multan or Bahawalpur.

This site is my attempt to do it properly.

What We Cover and Why

We cover everything related to MEPCO bills — not because it is a fashionable niche, but because it is genuinely underserved. Approximately 8.9 million registered electricity connections in South Punjab generate that many monthly bills, and a significant portion of those consumers have questions that nobody is answering well.

What we cover:

  • Bill checking and duplicate bill download
  • Complete explanation of every charge — FPA, GST, FC Surcharge, QTA, and others
  • Tariff rates for all consumer categories (domestic, commercial, industrial, agricultural)
  • Practical guidance on protected vs unprotected consumer status
  • How to file billing complaints and actually get them resolved
  • Detection bill rights and appeal process
  • District-specific information for all 13 cities in South Punjab
  • Net metering and solar billing updates
  • New connection applications

What we do not cover:
We do not cover other DISCOs (LESCO, IESCO, PESCO, etc.). We are focused entirely on MEPCO's service area. Depth over breadth.

Our Data Standards

Every tariff rate, FPA figure, helpline number, and regulatory reference on this site is sourced from:

  • NEPRA official notifications (with SRO numbers cited where possible)
  • The PITC billing portal (bill.pitc.com.pk/mepcobill)
  • MEPCO official communications
  • NEPRA's published monthly FPA determinations

We do not accept PR submissions, sponsored placement, or payments to feature any product, service, or information. There are no advertisers here.

When a rate changes or a policy is updated — the net billing policy change in December 2025 being a recent example — we update the relevant pages within 48 hours of the official announcement.

Our Relationship with MEPCO and PITC

This is an independent, unofficial website. We are not affiliated with MEPCO, PITC, NEPRA, the Ministry of Energy, or the Government of Pakistan in any capacity.

The bill checker tool on this site links to and retrieves data from the official PITC billing portal (bill.pitc.com.pk). We do not store your reference number, consumer ID, billing amounts, or any personal data. When you check your bill through this site, the data comes directly from the government's own portal — we are simply making it easier to access.

If you need to contact MEPCO officially, use their helpline (118), their circle offices, or the CCMS complaint portal at ccms.pitc.com.pk. This site provides information and guidance — we cannot directly resolve billing issues, process payments, or make changes to your account.

A Note on Accuracy

We try hard to be right. But electricity tariffs, FPA rates, and billing policies change regularly in Pakistan. Our pages are dated and we update them when we become aware of changes — but there can be a lag between a NEPRA announcement and our update.

If you find something on this site that appears to be outdated or incorrect, please tell us through the contact page. We take corrections seriously and we fix them quickly.
